Action Score

Action Score

The Action Score measures how exciting a fighter's bouts are. It captures striking volume, knockdowns, submission attempts, pace, and fighting style — while penalizing stalling tactics like lay-and-pray or point fighting.

Scores range from 0 to 100. Higher scores mean the fighter consistently delivers entertaining fights.

Two Levels: Bout Action and Fighter Action

Bout Action Score

Each individual fight receives an action score based on the combined output of both fighters. This is a shared score — both participants receive the same rating for that bout.

Fighter Action Score

A fighter's career action score is the time-decayed average of all their bout action scores, with a bonus for high finish rates.

Bout Action: What Goes Into It

Fighter Action: Career Score

A fighter's overall action score combines:

  1. Time-decayed average of all their bout action scores (recent fights weighted more heavily)
  2. Sample confidence — pulled toward 50 for fighters with fewer than 5 fights
  3. Finish rate bonus — up to +10 points for fighters who finish opponents (100% finish rate = +10)
career_action = 50 + (time_decayed_avg - 50) x confidence + finish_bonus
